Effects of Static Icing on Flashover Characteristics of High-Speed Train Roof Insulators

To study the icing flashover characteristics displayed by insulators on roof of a high-speed train at low-speed or static state, an environment with low temperature and high humidity is established in artificial climate chamber to carry out test composite insulator under state. The results indicate presence ice ridges bridging sheath edge when ambient wind speed less than 2m/s. arc appears firstly end ridge, it likely that adjacent tip converges air then further extends next sheath. melts enables stick ridge form water droplets, therefore existence droplets distortion electric field near them. Moreover, elongation edges accelerate process flashover. research can offer reference structural optimization design anti-icing for trains future.
